The\n\nbig news is the beginnings of our launch in\n\nthe American market, but there are also\n\ninteresting updates on sales, development,\n\nmentors and (of course) the investment\n\nround that closed in January.\n\nNew capital: The investment round was\n\nsuccessful. We raised 2.13 MNOK to match\n\nthe 2.05 MNOK loan from Innovation\n\nNorway. Including the development\n\nagreement with Filmlance International, the\n\ntotal new capital is 5 MNOK, partly tied to\n\nthe successful completion of milestones. Lumiere Numeriques have started\n\nusing us in France. We also have new\n\ncustomers in Norway, and high-profile users\n\nsuch as Gareth Unwin, producer of Oscar-\n\nwinning The King's Speech. Revenue for the\n\nfirst four months is 200 kNOK, compared to\n\n339 kNOK for all of 2016. We are working\n\non a partnership to safeguard sales in\n\nNorway while beginning to focus more on\n\nthe US.\n\nNew team members: We've extended our\n\norganization with two permanent developers\n\nbased in Łódź, the film capital of Poland. Two\n\nhighly skilled interns from the University of\n\nOslo's Entrepreneurship Program, will be\n\nworking on market research until mid-June\n\n(starting in March), preparing for the US\n\nlaunch. Also, two computer science students\n\nare working as part-time interns during\n\nspring, on machine learning and analysis\n\nresearch, as well as innovative architectures\n\nbased on the Swift language. We hope our\n\ninterns will consider sticking around!\n\nNew mentor: We are honored to have\n\nCaitlin Burns joining us as a mentor. She's an\n\naccomplished producer based in New York,\n\nan active member of the Producers Guild of\n\nAmerica, and the collaboration has already\n\nyielded good results, including valuable\n\ncontacts for our visit in Los Angeles. Oscar-\n\nwinning VFX supervisor Dave Stump joined\n\nus earlier.\n\nNew York, St. Louis, San Francisco and\nLos Angeles: Pontus and Audun did a tour\n\nof the US in February and March, meeting\n\nusers, partners and potential customers. The\n\ntrip was very successful, with several high\n\npoints, including meetings with Netflix, the\n\nAcademy of Motion Picture Arts and\n\nSciences, the International\n\nCinematographers Guild, Local 871 (the\n\nscript supervisors' union), one of the world's\n\nleading DITs, and Apple. See the separate\n\nattachment for a more detailed summary.\n\nNAB: Andreas and Audun travelled to the\n\nNational Association of Broadcasters\n\nconvention (NAB) in Las Vegas for three\n\nhectic days in April. NAB gathers 100,000\n\nparticipants from film and TV. It's a very\n\nefficient way of meeting people in the\n\nbusiness, and getting an updated picture of\n\nthe business landscape. The most exciting\n\nmeeting was with PIX System, one of our\n\nmost important competitors. It was\n\ninteresting to note that they regarded the\n\nindie market as bigger than their own.\n\nAndreas was able to secure us an\n\ninvitation to the DIT-WIT party, with some of\n\nthe world's leading DITs in attendance. It was\n\na great place for informal feedback on Drylab\n\nViewer. The pattern was the same as for\n\nother users: Initial polite interest turns to\n\nreal enthusiasm the moment someone is able\n\nto personally try Drylab Viewer! We also\n\nmet with Pomfort and Apple about our on-\n\ngoing collaborations; ARRI and Teradek/\n\nhttp://www.imdb.com/title/tt1504320/\nhttp://www.imdb.com/name/nm0003432/\n\n\nParalinx about camera integration; Amazon,\n\nGoogle and IBM about cloud computing.\n\nWWDC and Silicon Valley: We were very\n\npleasantly surprised to be invited by Apple to\n\ntheir World Wide Developers Conference in\n\nSan Jose in June, despite not having applied.\n\nIt's a valuable chance to learn and make new\n\nconnections. We’re also setting aside time to\n\nmeet other potential partners.\n\nCine Gear: We have decided not to attend\n\nthe Cine Gear expo in L.A. this year, since\n\nfeedback from many users about the show\n\nwere mixed, and our planned beta version of\n\n3.0 is slightly delayed.\n\nDevelopment and launch: Development\n\nis around one month behind our original\n\nschedule. We expect the delay to decrease,\n\nwith new developers on board.\n\nThe launch of Drylab 3.0 will take place at\n\nthe International Broadcasters Convention\n\nin Amsterdam in September, and we are\n\nworking hard to get solid feedback from pilot\n\nusers before then.\n\nAnnual General Meeting: Drylab's AGM\n\nwill be held on June 16th at 15:00. An\n\ninvitation will be distributed to all owners\n\nwell in advance.
